So there's this show on TLC called Moving Up. It has an interesting premise, but I'm surprised by people's reactions! On the episode I watched yesterday, the family that was coming back to look at the home was horrified. One of the girls even said "I want to burn it down". Now surely, they knew that a home that was still stuck in the 70s (outdated kitchen and orange shag carpet) was going to change in the hands of a new owner!
I know that I'm going to be sentimental when my family finally moves from our current home...but to be upset at the new owners for making it theirs? What's the big deal? That just feels to me like you haven't accepted moving into a new home!
I can understand reactions like this on Trading Spaces when the family still has to live in the home. But on this show the family is out and if in accordance with the title have "moved up" to a better house.
Oh TLC. Some of your shows are awesome (Little People, Big World), while others (What Not to Wear) drive me up a wall. Don't get me started on Stac(e)y and Clinton. Argh!

I remember when I was about six or so, we drove past the house I lived in for the first four years of my life and saw that they painted it a different color - a fugly color - and I was as pissed off as a six year old can get about such a thing.
I'm a huge fan of WNTW with Stacy and Clinton. I pretty much wallow in it. But why do they keep that hair guy, Nick? He's terrible. His cuts are really frumpy and awful. (And his own hair? Horrors!!)
induced homomorphism--The only house I've ever seen after I moved out was my house in Michigan. Since my parents were in the middle of divorce, my dad was actually still living there. It was disturbing that he was sleeping on an air mattress and had pictures of another woman on our mantel. Somehow I think that's slightly different! :-)
nance--I hate it. A lot. I think they're much too rude to people and they don't always suggest fashions that are appropriate (such as, "Oh this is your lounging around outfit? Well, here's what you should wear instead--these fabulous dress pants, this silk blouse, and these pointy boots!" erm...I'd stick with my holey sweats for lounging around!) I don't watch it enough to know of Nick, but I'll try to check him out.
