So I was supposed to have an awesome tea/brunch date with my friend, but alas the gods of plans intervened...
Yesterday when I was driving to work (at 4:30, mind you), my brakes started making a weird clicking/clunking noise. Since I learned from last time DON'T MESS AROUND WITH WEIRD NOISES, I panicked! I went to work, and one of my managers let me take my car to the Tuffy across the street. I wanted to make sure that it was drivable and I wouldn't die. The problem turned out to be the brake shoes not being fit properly and thus not wearing correctly. Luckily, not something DRASTIC, so I decided to wait until today to take my car to the Tuffy that did my brake work originally. And thusly, I needed to cancel tea (figuring I'd be sitting at Tuffy or the nearby Starbucks all day long).
Tuffy was busy today (even though I went over at the crack of dawn), so instead of sitting there all day impatiently, I scheduled service for Monday afternoon. That freed up my day today, but unfortunately I went to bed very late last night (I worked till close--midnight), and getting up early this morning was killer. I came home and went back to bed, only to still feel like poopie when I finally got up. Ugh. So basically I'm going to waste this day reading a book until I have to head to work.
The good news in all of this is that the repair work will be covered by the limited warranty, so it shouldn't cost a single red cent!

Aw, that stinks about your brakes. Cars are such a nuisance sometimes! We'll have to reschedule our tea date my dear, but I'm glad at least that neither you nor your car got hurt.
Haha I stayed up late, too. Once I got your e-mail I was like, "Well...I guess this means I don't have to go to bed now." I was up until 4am writing! Crazy, I know. What book are you reading?
I'm only mildly bummed about the car--I should've taken it in sooner because it seemed something was amiss even before the noise. I'm more bummed that it ruined my plans! I'm glad you used your time to write :-)
I'm reading Jack and Jill by James Patterson. I borrowed one of his books from Jeri, and I liked it a lot. Now I'm devouring his work--I finished the paperback books in the "Women's Murder Club" series in about a week and a half. I'm working my way through his "Alex Cross" series now. I'm on a reading binge, and it's lovely! (I mean, I've only read 13 books so far this year...I know some people read many more than that!!)
Oh my sister read Jack and Jill, she really liked it! I tried to read it but it was too dark for me. I'm an escapist reader, for sure.
I feel you. I've only read 14 and I feel that's such a shame...so many good books to read, so little time! Stupid classes and work and graduate schools and...meh. My "To Be Read" list has some fifty books...I'll never get to all of them, I think.
LOL, you sound just like me. The first thing I want to know about a car problem is: Will I die if I drive it?
Isn't that most important though?! All I could think was "Dear God, please let me stop at this red light". It was an awful noise! (It's all better now, thankfully!)
