Another One of Those Days...

I'm being plagued by crappy days this quarter, and I'm at my limit. This morning, I was supposed to work at 9 (we have a brunch buffet at my restaurant). I was nearly finished getting ready and was putting in my contacts. I washed my hands, and must've not gotten all the soap off because when I stuck it to my eyeball there was searing, burning pain. Glorious, I tell you. Since I couldn't open my eye very well, I had to call off work. Ack. Not something I'd like to be doing this early in the game, but such is my life at the moment. I spent the day trying to study through a teary eye, and it's finally better (thank goodness I didn't scratch my eye, since that is much worse). That really set the tone for a less than awesome day. Even a delicious lunch at TGI Friday's, one of my favorite restaurants, couldn't cheer me up. So I've had a general feeling of malaise all day.

And I've just gotten a call from my brother requesting that he spend the night here because the pipes burst in his dorm and ...sewage...or something is cascading down the walls of his room. That's the dorm I lived in freshman through junior years, and it seems like the pipe bursting is happening earlier this year. Yuck.

On a brighter note, I'm going to see my "boyfriend of funny" (I have several "boyfriend(s) of ...") Dane Cook on Wednesday with my brother. I'm excited!

I can't even imagine the pain. I get dizzy to the point of almost fainting when people talk about me using contacts, so I've never used them. Pretty terrified of them, actually.

I hope you're feeling better, and don't worry about work, I'm sure you can make it up or something. But I understand how you feel.

I've been wearing contacts for almost 10 years now. They've never really bothered me, but I can understand not wanting to stick things in your eye. Now Lasik...that's what I'm not interested in at all! (Perhaps when I learn more about it, I'll change my tune?)

My concern about missing work is that I haven't really worked there long enough for them to know that I'm not a bullshitter. Blah. I'm sure it will be fine.

Don't you have glasses? I'd have just said "screw the contacts" and put my glasses on and gone in. Once they got a look at your eye, they may have sent you home. Oh well, maybe you couldn't see to get there.

I do have glasses, and my first thought was to wear them to work despite it being an annoyance, but I couldn't even keep my eye open, let alone drive to work.
