I've been trying out different self-tanners to see how they work for me. I had been using a "gradual" lotion variety (from Vaseline) and it worked pretty okay as long as I made sure to rub it all over without missing spots. It smelled kind of awful though. A few nights ago I bought and tried Neutrogena's Micromist tanning spray. The results the next day were lame, it only worked on my upper legs, not my lower legs (I only did my legs as those are easy to hide in case of disaster). So I tried again last night, focusing on my legs from about midthigh down. This morning I found out that I stink at being able to spray evenly and in the right areas. Needless to say, my ankles and feet are REALLY ORANGE. So much for the promise of not looking orange and no missed spots. The tan wouldn't look so bad if my feet didn't look so goofy. Ah well, it's only temporary and it just makes me laugh. I think I'll stick with lotion application style because I've had success with that.
For dinner, I'm making spaghetti squash. I haven't had it in years, so I hope that I like it. Last night was a dinner failure. At least I made a successful dessert!
Ah, the weekend. Relaxation!

Those self-tanners...I used one from...Banana Boat, I think. It was pretty good, not too orangey, but it actually started to like scratch or rub off after a while. And I used to get cheapo latex gloves to rub it on to prevent any orangey palms situation. I'm like you: legs only. The rest, forget it. Too risky. And, be careful going in a swimming pool! For some reason, the underwater effect really shows up any lines, streaks, and missed spots in self-tanners.
I think I'm going to let everything wear back off and try again with the lotions only. I'm not too worried about orange palms because I wash it off right away before it gets a chance to "activate".
I did try a face tanner from Jergen's, and so far I can't tell much of a difference--certainly not orange so that's good.
I'd never use those self-tanners for quite a few reasons, but I always have the natural tanning dilemma. I either burn or I stay white - there is no tanning for me. I spent five days on a Greek Island last year and came back as white as ever, even though my friend came back with a perfect tan. And now I'm finishing up nearly a month in the Middle East, some of which was spent IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DESERT IN THE HOT SUN, and I'm still nearly as white as I was when I got here.
::sigh::
That's a bummer! I can tan if I'm out, but I'm not outside enough to tan because I'm only outside long enough to walk to and from classes.
